Nearly every consultancy you speak with will tell you there’s a skills gap coming – some go as far as a “skills apocalypse”. Most of us are already finding it harder to recruit the skills we need for our organisations, and many of us accept we need to grow our own talent in-house. However, the challenge is doing that while still focusing on BAU work, the ED&I agenda and our future growth strategies.
One option is to look at our Early Careers offering, including graduates, apprentices, work placements and interns. While some might see these avenues as still being potholed with the skills gap of inexperienced talent early in their career, we need to see the gap as having more to do with opportunity, rather than skills.
We need to hire for potential as well as for experience. This approach, called Employed Consultancy, has been adopted successfully and extensively by certain sectors and in contingent workforce solutions. This talk explores what is it and why is it the solution we all need.
